The constant struggle with choosing the best café that can serve good food has finally come to an end. Ever since I’ve started my blog I make it a point that I am working in an environment that is relaxing and comfortable enough for me to be efficient in writing. I have tried numerous cafés here in Davao City but there has always been a problem with consistency. It’s either a coffee shop that serves good coffee is always packed and you can never get any work done, or a coffee shop that has good coffee has horrible food options. I’ve finally found a new spot in Davao City that I can work effectively and enjoy the food I eat. The Lobby Café by Arcadia is located in the same building as the Arcadia Active Lifestyle Center which gives out a balance to the masculine vibe coming from the gym. The owners and architect of Arcadia didn’t want to give the impression that the Arcadia Active Lifestyle Center was only for men. They made the whole building more colorful and vibrant to invite families to enjoy the facility.
The Lobby Café by Arcadia Matina- Enclaves is a whole new place to dine and enjoy the company of my friends within the budget. The concept of the food they serve are very simple yet because of their culinary skills, they made something so simple into a work of art. The flavors that go inside every bite can are emphasized in the complimentary add-ons to the meals. We were fortunate enough to have a taste of The Lobby Café’s selection of food prepared and served by Chef Ray Galura himself. Let’s start with the meals, shall we?
MUST- TRY MEALS FROM THE LOBBY CAFÉ
1. Chicken with Waffle
A perfect starter in the morning, some thick and authentic waffles with chicken that was marinated nicely with orange citrus. The crispy skin with the peppercorn gravy complimented well with the waffle. Did I mention the waffle has bits of bacon inside? Oh yes, it’s perfection!
2. Ham and Cheese
A sandwich that was made with layers of goodness in one bite. The crispy bread breaks into a warm layer of cheese as soon as you bite into it. Not only does the smoked ham is fresh, but it also gives a sweet flavor together with the spinach in the middle of the sandwich. The ham and cheese sandwich is made out of three different types of cheese. It is served with a simple salad and french fries.
3. Lasagna
Another great dish in the Lobby Café’s menu is their lasagna. Its a combination of cheese with meat sauce, chorizo Cebu and baked off with parmesan cheese. I never order lasagna when we eat out simply because I make a pretty good lasagna at home but this is an exception. It tasted so good that it didn’t last 5 minutes on our table, everyone attacked that plate right away.
4. Aglio Olio
The last meal they served was a penne tossed in olive oil with garlic and pepperoncino. The black olives on top of the dish gave the penne pasta more flavor. The whole dish was perfect with nice cold iced tea and a piece of garlic bread. At this point, everyone was already very full but the servers were coming out with my favorite part, dessert!
5. Iced Caramel Coffee
Before I devoured into the amazing selection of desserts (while everyone was still taking blog photos) I requested for an iced coffee. During this time of the day I would automatically have my second dose of coffee, but today I got this interesting drink from the server. I asked for an iced caramel coffee drink and she came back with something even better. I am not entirely sure what this drink is called in their menu but at the bottom of the drink was coffee jelly! I don’t usually order any toppings or whipped cream for my coffee because I like it plain and strong but this was a treat! The consistency of the coffee jelly complimented the cold brew so well!
6. Dessert
My favorite part of the whole meal was the desserts. They served us three different desserts namely the Chocolate Mousse, Espresso Chocolate mousse, and the Ube- Pandan Panna Cotta. I did not know which one to take first because they all looked so good! After a few eenie- meenie’s I chose to try the Chocolate Mousse and it was delicious! It was not too sweet for me and the texture was to die for! The Espresso Chocolate mousse is something I would definitely keep coming back for. First of all, I love coffee. Then there is my love for chocolate, but to top all of that is the pistachios that were on top of the dessert that made me realize that I have a new favorite dessert. The coffee blend was not too strong nor bitter and complimented very well with the chocolate mousse which was soft yet had a great amount of texture to it. The last dessert was the Ube- Pandan Panna Cotta. Being in the Philippines, Ube is a popular dessert flavor but it’s not necessarily for everyone. I’ve met people who do not like the taste of ube but having 4 years in Cebu and being spoiled by the rich and authentic ube from Bohol, this unique flavor grew on me. There are a lot of times where I would try a new Ube dessert but I would never be satisfied with it because I’d always compare it to the pure ube we used to eat in Cebu. The Lobby Café did a great job with the Ube dessert they prepared for us! The richness of the Ube flavor can truly compliment the pandan in one dish. Honestly, out of the three desserts the Espresso Chocolate mousse has got to be my favorite!
