Why start a blog?
This is technically not the first time I’ve written a blog. A year ago, I started a WordPress account that talked about my hobby as a planner girl. Planning Taylor is what I call it and it provided me with a platform to offer my creative sticker products free to a certain extent, which would then be linked to my online shop.
That blog didn’t really take off, I had every intention to create some great content but then life happened and I got sidetracked. When I started that blog, we only had one kid, Aiden and life was hectic but my hands were not that full. Having a house helper was a bonus considering I did not have to worry so much about household chores and focus solely on Aiden and my husband (man child). The situation around the house has changed, we gained a new member in our family and we decided that we no longer wanted any helper’s in the house. Okay, let me just clear the awkwardness before any of you think that I’m a little privileged girl succumbed into the domesticated life. In the Philippines, having a house helper is perfectly normal and 90% of households have at least one. I really liked having them around because not only it takes a large load of work out of my hands, but also because I know that we help them and their families by giving them a fair salary. Unfortunately, things always seem to have not worked out so I just accepted the fact that we are not lucky when it comes to house helpers, there is always something and someone that prevents them to stay. Whether it was a sick kid they have to go home to, a husband who wants a wife to come home every day, or they just cannot be happy with what they already have. The final decision came down to this, they’re hired to relieve some of my stress and free up my time to focus on kids and my hobbies but it became more stressful having to deal with their mood swings, excuses and lack of commitment. So long story short, I’ve fully accepted the fact that I will officially be a full time mother.
To keep myself sane, I try different methods to keep busy and occupied outside of being a mom. One method, which is working for me as of the moment is vlogging, I watch vlogger moms, vlogging families and I am so intrigued with how they keep up with their kids while still maintaining a great outlook in life. They’ve saved me from some really nasty mommy tantrums, as we all know even though there are millions of books out there there is no manual to raising a family so watching other people go through the same thing as I am really helps. I mean don’t get me wrong, the best part about being a full time mother is always being with the kids. If only I didn’t have to deal with the never-ending upkeep of our home and just watch our kids everyday…THE LIFE. But reality is, we have to step up and do what we need to do.
Vlogging, it’s fun. it’s entertaining, but it’s also a lot of work. Right now I am just starting off and I believe I have found our niche so that I can produce the content I want, that I believe viewers would like to see and not completely open my family up to the public. At first we were hesitant about vlogging, it would mean that a lot of people who are mostly strangers would see and be involved to an extent in our personal lives but once we found our goal in the vlog we kind of got used to it. Well the kid’s and I did, Sean is still a little awkward around the camera.
The Taylor Family Vlogs will mainly be a Travel vlog. Is it informative? We will try. Is it fun? Yes, it will. But most of all is it necessary? I know travel vloggers are everywhere and anyone can just pick up a camera and document their travels. Our aim will be towards travel vlogs that are kid and family friendly. Going back to when my husband and I would search vacation spots for families and what we can do in certain countries, it was frustrating. Almost all blogs and articles about countries are pointing towards couples and how adventurous they can be. When you have a family even if you’d wish to be game with every single activity that country has to offer sometimes it’s not safe for kids. Hiking for hours, bungee jumping, diving, bar hoping and everything else screams a baby tantrum. It was hard for us to travel because some countries didn’t offer (or didn’t advertise) a lot of safe and fun things for kids. This is where we thought of doing vlogs where we travel with our two boys and explore what the world can offer but focusing on the safe and child- friendly aspect of things.
Who are we?
Our two energetic boys have been the center of our lives and they are undeniably adorable. My husband and I are very hands on with them and try to do our best day by day. I have stopped working and am solely focused on raising our kids because we believe it’s what’s best for their development. When Aiden turned one we couldn’t wait to have another baby hence Travis was born soon after. Currently Travis just turned one and honestly my husband and I have been having baby fever but we try to brush it off because its gets crazy sometimes.
