Day Two in Manila and we are up early for a fun day in Enchanted Kingdom!
The first time I was in Enchanted Kingdom was back in the year 1996 when my parents took the whole family for a fun trip to Manila. All I can remember from that trip was that it rained so hard that we weren’t able to ride all of the rides. Being the youngest in the family it was hard not to be bullied around. I can recall moments when my brothers would force me into those scary rides just because they thought it was funny. Reminiscing about that moment, I remember my mother saying “Go on all the rides, you never know when we will be able to come back here” and yes, it saddened me that it took me 22 years before I could come back to this magical place. Not only that I came here with my own family, but we missed the chance to come back and have a great time when we were still complete.
Transportation:
Enchanted Kingdom is 1-2 hours away from the city so we rented a car with a driver to take us and bring us back. It cost us about 4,500 pesos to rent an Avanza car for the day. Santa Rosa, where Enchanted Kingdom is located is a small city in Manila. They are so small that their only mode of transportation was tricycles which is why you would really need a proper car to visit the park.

Food:
Before going to the park my family and I have eaten lunch in a nearby mall called Waltermart. There are a lot of food options to choose from and since we came on a weekend the park only opens at 2pm. It’s a good thing we came in the park with a full stomach because the park’s food can be a little pricey. Expect full meals to be about 250-300 pesos each and drinks can range from 100-150 pesos. Food was not allowed to be brought into the park but they let my boy’s water bottles in which was convenient for me since I didn’t want to consume bottles of water from the park.
Tips for Mothers:
- Bring your own stroller: Yes, they have strollers for rent in the park but they are not as comfortable as your own. They are the standard sitting strollers which is fine for a toddler but very uncomfortable when you have babies napping from time to time.
- Bring extra clothes: If you’re a mom this tip is already a staple inside your baby bag but you still have to bring an extra pair because some rides that your kids will try includes a lot of water and believe me when I say they will be soaked from head to toe. It is also best to go on these rides at the end of the day so you and your kids can only uncomfortable on your car ride home.
- Bring snacks: Yes I said earlier that food is not allowed inside the park but you can still sneak in a few nutribars for your kids, and as long as you explain to them at the entrance that they are for your little ones they won’t say no.
- Find the nursery station: We found about this place in the middle of our day and it saved us from the kids being cranky all day. There is an air-conditioned play area for kids to stay in when it’s too hot outside. You have to pay a fee of Php200 per child plus guardian but at that point it was worth it. We used this chance to go on all the big rides where the kids cannot get on.
- Plan all your rides: Try to get the kids hype up as soon as you get inside the park so their momentum will keep going. As soon as it’s down time for them try the smaller and relaxed rides to save you from tantrums. Hopefully your kids will take a nap during the day and you can start all over again.
- Go out for lunch: If you have a car with you it is best to go outside for lunch because it’s cheaper and more convenient for everyone. Aside from the fact that you’ll save money, you can get away from the intense heat that comes in the middle of the day. The park is relatively shady, but the heat from the floor can upset any toddler at any time.
- Bring sunscreen: When you only have a few hours to ride all the exciting rides, you do not want the sun to get on your way. Protect yourself and your kids with some sunscreen and apply as much as possible because the heat can burn you easily. Being Filipino (or maybe being an island girl) the heat doesn’t bother me as much and I rarely have sunburns. I only apply my favorite everyday sunscreen which is The Faceshop Natural Sun for power long- lasting sun care and I’m all set. Unfortunately my Canadian husband and kids are not the same. I have never seen Sean so tan after our Enchanted Kingdom trip! Luckily the boys were not burnt because I tried my best protecting them with my umbrella and their stroller’s canopy but the sun was not nice to Sean!
- Bring an umbrella: We had a little bit of rain during the day but luckily it wasn’t strong enough for us to stop the fun. Always be prepared by bringing a travel- lite umbrella with you! I remember when we came here years back, the rain was so hard that we had to buy matching raincoats for the day.
- Wear light clothing: This is given knowing that you will be in a hot place but when we got there I could still see kids in thick pants! I couldn’t imagine being in pants that day.
- Bring your ID: School, PWD and Senior Citizen IDs are accepted in the park for discounts.
- Bring cash: Almost all the stores and food stalls accept cash only.
All in all don’t forget to have fun! The memories you create with your kids will last them a lifetime so make sure you make an impact to their childhood by being a child with them. Bring out the inner kid in you and play the small games and ride on the kids’ rides. I’m sure your kids will appreciate it a lot more than you think!
