Last weekend, we were invited to try out the overnight stay and activities with Malagos Garden Resort. We were thrilled to have the invitation since we’ve been visiting this place for years now and our kids have always loved their stay. But this time was different because we were staying overnight and we haven’t seen their rooms before.
Due to the Pandemic, Malagos Garden Resort has adopted a lot of health protocols and NEW NORMAL CHANGES to make the experience better and safer for all visitors.
THE ROOMS
Malagos Garden Resort really stepped up their game by creating amazing rooms for the best nature experience. As soon as you get inside, the whole vibe changes into a nature-filled and relaxing place. I absolutely love the brick walls because it definitely gave a homey and rustic vibe to our stay. Our room was located right beside a water stream which made us hear the flowing water all through the night. If you are a light sleeper, this may bother you. But for us, the flowing stream was definitely relaxing and served as a white noise machine for my boys. They slept through the night without waking up even for one minute.
THE ACTIVITIES
The new normal protocols made it a little hard for the resort to function the same way but they managed to pull through and make the fun and exciting activities safe for the visitors.
To start off, Malagos Garden Resort created the Malagos App that would help customers experience the best Malagos hospitality that they can offer. The app will allow the customers to have an exclusive glimpse of their latest promos and offers. They can book their reservations and pay online. And they can discover the resort map with location pins and codes that can access their amenities and attractions.
+Raptor Encounter+
We were able to experience the Raptor Encounter which was the feeding time of all the birds they have in Malagos Garden Resort. The kids loved seeing the birds fly freely and be in the sky! It was such a great way to be in touch with nature, we saw them all up close and personal.
+Chocolate Museum+
The first part of the tour was the Chocolate Museum. There will be a guided tour so the experience will remain safe and clean for everyone. There will be a minimum of 23 guests per tour and it’s a one-way street, meaning that group may no longer go back inside so the staff can sanitize and clean before the next batch comes in.
The museum is a great way to learn more about the riches of Mindanao Cacao and what it can offer, we learned so much about chocolate and how Mindanao is one of the biggest producers of Cacao. Aside from having an abundance of Cacao, Mindanao is also known for having the “sweet” version of Cacao because they are mainly grown among fruits. Unlike the other farms, Mindanao’s Cacao is not totally bitter which explains how Malagos Garden Resort has awards for their Cacao.
+The Butterfly Sanctuary+
The Butterfly Sanctuary is home to many butterfly species but because of the heavy rains, there were only a few of those species left in the Malagos Butterfly Sanctuary during our visit. My kids were so excited to see the beautiful butterflies up close. There were so many of them surrounding us that it was a little overwhelming for my boys.
They enjoyed posing for photos and seeing the process of how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. It was like our little science class with real life experiences and visual aid. They loved the idea that butterflies come from such a tint egg that blossomed into beautiful creatures with wings.
+Butterfly Museum+
The butterfly museum is open for managed tours, they have a strict 23 guests per tour policy to observe social distancing at all times.
We learned about the different kinds of Butterflies and their origin from this museum.
+Hydroponics Garden Tour+
Malagos Garden Resort is proud about their own Malagos Homegrown items that they naturally grow and culture in their property. All their food from the restaurant comes from their Hydroponics Garden. Everything is organic and safe for the environment, making the vegetables healthy and nutritious.
+Bird Watching Activity+
We woke up extra early on a Saturday morning to experience the bird watching activity that Malagos Garden Resort had to offer. The Malagos Garden Resort is now the first birdwatching resort in Davao City. There are so many bird species that have been spotted in the resort and some are very rare to find. Bird watcher enthusiasts promote the preservation of the birds’ natural habitat by providing people a better understanding of how nature takes its course in our life.
Since we had a very rainy evening, we were only able to spot 2 birds during our stay. The team of Malagos Garden Resort was kind enough to entertain the kids with their parrots and their wide variety of birds. The kids were able to feed the birds and play with them for a little while.
+Egg Picking Activity+
This was one of the most unique activities that the kids were able to experience in Malagos Garden Resort. Breakfast was scheduled for 7 am and the kids were invited to harvest their own eggs. Kids nowadays cannot experience the simple things in life such as gardening and farming so this was a great way for them to learn where their food comes from. They were also allowed to feed the chickens while they were there, and it was a memorable experience for them as well.
